It is widely accepted that the Palace of Westminster is in desperate need of a complete refurbishment - The Houses of Parliament need reform but that is a different issue. The latest estimates are that this will take between somewhere 11 and sixty years (most of you reading this will never see it completed). The last cost estimate is £40bn - if the HS2 record is anything to go by that will rise north of £100bn.
Perhaps we should bring in the French who managed to restore the Notre Dame following the devastating fire in under 5 years and under budget.
